Bobby and Kara are K.I.D, a duo from the Toronto suburbs, who met in a local convenience store and bonded over their mutual love of music. Feeling alienated from the local scene, they decided to start making their own music with personal lyrics of frustration and alienation. They impressed many tastemakers with their 2015 Great Escape set and made their London debut with Bleachers at Dingwalls. Now with help from Mike Crossley (producer of Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Twenty One Pilots, The 1975 and Wolf Alice) they’ve found their sound and an audience eagerly lapping them up. This great song was premiered with The Fader, has already found its way onto Spotify’s New Music Friday list, entered the Top 30 on their Global Viral chart and Top 3 on that list in their native Canada. We’re delighted their back in London this Monday night (October 10) for a gig at The Shacklewell Arms, previewing songs from their forthcoming album, due next spring. Upbeat but underpinned with gritty sadness that connects with millennials, this is modern electro pop at its earthy but catchy best.
