A neat, catchy xylophone motif hooks you right into this fabulous track from multi-talented musician Stefan Alexander. He’s based in New York and in his pre-school years he was already dabbling with songwriting on the piano. By the age of six, Stefan was learning other instruments and recording his work and ideas onto tape, thanks to his always-encouraging parents. His influences and musical heroes are vast and varied, ranging from swing legend Cab Calloway and soul giant Sam Cooke through Carole King, Whitney Houston and Billie Holliday, right up to Justin Timberlake in 2016. And it’s that latter superstar’s sound that you’ll hear seep through here. Currently seeking a label and publisher, there’e a real minimal Kygo-esque feel to it before falsetto vocals kick in over the modern-R&B-inspired groove on a chorus that absolutely soars. It’s finding favour at San Francisco’s Live 105 right now and a showcase from Stefan is lined-up for later in the autumn. This is bang on trend, the fresh sound of radio worldwide right now, and one hell of a cool debut. We can't wait to hear more.
