Plaintive piano chords capture the ear right at the start of this fine track from singer-songwriter Lauren Ray. She’s a music obsessive who loves writing and gigging, and since moving to London learnt about the industry whilst working for a couple of years for the PPL. Ask anyone who compiles Coffee Break playlists for streaming services and they’ll say hers is the kind of sound that millions are drawn to across the world in 2016. Citing influences including Carole King and Norah Jones, Lauren's had radio support across several BBC local radio stations and from 6Music's Tom Robinson, with previous track Come To Me featured on BBC Introducing's Mixtape playlist. Currently guesting with Jason Ross on his debut Anjunabeats release, she’s playing a showcase on September 27 at London’s Cafe Royal Hotel (contact the label for guest list). Taken from her recently-released album We Will Need Courage, recorded in Nashville, she’s currently showcasing her music in a perfect environment as Caffe Nero’s Artist Of The Month, and this song is a delightful introduction to her work.
