That's All I Need
We say
Combining the universal appeal of Rude by Magic! and Kid Rock's All Summer Long, this great track from Dirty Heads' self-titled album (which recently topped Billboard’s Top 100 Alternative Album Chart) is a song that’s massive right now at the hugely-influential KROQ in Los Angeles. A recent headline gig promoted by the station saw them perform to 12,000 fans and now we’re seeing it gain mainstream traction on stations over on the east coast of the US too. Sirens wail, the famous ‘Funky Drummer’ breakbeat kicks in and a sun-filled groove begins with a catchy trumpet hook, before making way for a chorus that’ll make you wish summer was a few months longer. Successfully blending pop-edged rock, hip-hop and reggae, it's one of those rare tracks you spot coming from the left-field but which then has instant global appeal, much like Twenty One Pilots are experiencing right now. Holland’s Radio 538 (their equivalent of Radio 1) have playlisted it, and we expect others across Europe to follow suit. Looks like this cool slow-burner is about to turn into a true crossover smash.
