Making It Rain
We say
Classy and soulful, this song by Samuel Jack comes from his forthcoming EP Let It All Out. He's a singer-songwriter, born in Clapham, who absorbed the sounds and cultures of South Africa and The Netherlands as a kid whilst his parents led a nomadic lifestyle with their careers. After leaving home at 16, he now is based in a caravan in a Somerset field, but stepped into the spotlight when he was asked to open up Glastonbury’s Avalon Stage last summer, after he was heard playing in a local pub. Now things are deservedly moving at a pace and we’re already struck by the emotive quality of that voice, almost as if he’s been around in our lives for years, such is the welcoming, confessional, blues-soaked tone he possesses. Championed by BBC Introducing, Sofar Sounds and KCRW in L.A., he’s performing live at the Larmer Tree festival this weekend and is set to play for Robert Elms on his BBC Radio London show on Thursday (July 21) before doing headline show with Beth Rowley that evening at Surya on Pentonville Road. Beautiful, dramatic and touching, this is simply a superb track.
