We say

Hailing from Leeds, Modern Pleasure are a five-piece band who’ve just completed a pair of well-received showcases in London and in their native Yorkshire. They formed just over three years ago when guitarist and vocalist Giuseppe spent a summer dividing his time between Leeds, Brighton and Berlin and hooked up with fellow musician Scott to knock around a bunch of tunes which they busked and eventually ended up shaping the core direction of the group. Now with the addition of three extra members, their sound is guitar-based indie rock with a real poppy sunshine-infused feel, deceptively hiding a bit of darkness within. After curating an evening in association with Communion Music at Oval Space’s venue The Pickle Factory a couple of weeks ago, they’re back in London on the Hyde Park bill for British Summer Time with Mumford & Sons on July 8. Solidly-produced and catching your ear right form the off, this is a perfect introduction to a young band who stand head and shoulders above many of their contemporaries right now with melodic, superbly-crafted songs like this.
