There are some powerful emerging female stars well worth seeking out at The Great Escape this year and east London-based Harper is one such name. She’s an artist who’s originally from Bristol and is about to release her EP, with this heavenly title track showcasing her talents perfectly. Taking inspiration from artists she was drawn to as a kid, including Bjork and Radiohead, today’s strong musical women too like Sia and Lorde have undoubtedly helped shape the sonics of this song with its luxuriously chilled and almost meditative vibe that’s beautifully executed with a sleek electronic edge. Currently in the process of piecing together her debut album, you’ll see her perform this Saturday (May 21) at Brighton venue The Black Lion around 2pm as part of the Alternative Escape's Finding The Female Headliner afternoon showcase event. Wearing her heart on her sleeve, this raw and very relatable tale dealing with lost love is a perfect introduction to her latest work.
