Here's To Hoping
We say
After we first featured Hattie Briggs with A Beautiful Mind just over a year ago, praise swiftly followed and both The Independent and Q magazine marked her out as an artist worth following. A year on, the 23-year old recently contacted us with new music and this song stood out right from the off. It comes from her second album Young Runaway and sees her deliver a whole new impetus to her musical direction. Her independently released debut album Red & Gold got her noticed at Radio 2 and in folk circles, but now she’s consolidating on that buzz with a rich, grown-up sound that’ll bring in a whole new audience looking for a quality act to embrace. Inspired by giants like Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, she plays in London at Camden’s Green Note on April 28 and The Rabbit Hole on May 26 ahead of dates at the Cambridge Folk Festival and Cornbury. There’s a young fresh country tinge to this latest work and with UK acts Ward Thomas and The Shires both about to release second albums, expect Hattie’s gorgeous new music to find a welcome home with fans of both acts too.
