I Don't Like It
We say
Uncovering all the influences blended into this tight, three-minute song by Brighton-based trio The RPMs is a joy. So ridiculously young but somehow managing to combine that thrill of early works from Arctic Monkeys, The La’s and even The Who, they recently supported The Beat across the UK. Much of that infectious sound is distilled into this main track from their debut EP Digital Disobedience. Laced with hooks and packed with melody, another of their songs I Think It’s Stupid, But I Think It’s Love gained airplay across BBC Introducing South after they were championed by 6 Music’s Tom Robinson. We're so thankful that British guitar music is again seeing gritty teens and early-20s create simple, feel-good anthems that sound superb on record but beg to be heard in a sweaty venue. Camden Monarch on May 13 will give you that experience, then the legendary Hawley Arms for Camden Rocks on June 4. First though, they’re doing a Record Store Day gig at Union Music Store in Lewes tomorrow (April 16). This is simply raw energetic pop that's Instant, urgent and vital.
