I Was Born
We say
After emerging in 2014 onto the Dublin live scene, Otherkin started picking up wider attention last year with their impressive EP The 201 and previous single Feel It, which saw the likes of Annie Mac, Phil Taggart and Huw Stephens at Radio 1 jump on board alongside John Kennedy at Radio X. Now comes this punchy, spunky track, premiered by Annie and now also on the Radio X evening playlist. It's already racked up almost 78,000 SoundCloud plays and precedes their forthcoming EP The New Vice (set for June 17). As a live act, they’re a force to be reckoned with. Their next London show is at The Black Heart in Camden tomorrow night (April 13) and a gig at The Great Escape is confirmed for May 19. Just like that famous scene in the movie Pulp Fiction, where Uma Thurman’s character gets a shot of adrenaline and instantly bolts upright back to consciousness, this thrilling track administers that metaphorical energy burst upon the listener. Otherkin are the latest bunch of guitar-wielding upstarts that snap rock back to life in 2016. And for that we’re truly grateful. Crank this up loud.
