Holy Love
We say
Now that streaming dominates the international musical landscape of 2016, the opportunities for acts to shine from countries outside the usual UK/US influence is greater than ever. Step forward Compact Disk Dummies, a duo from Kortrijk in Belgium. They’ve steadily been building a reputation across European music festivals but this wonderful track could be their calling card to deserved attention at a global level. It comes as the first single from their debut album Silver Souls, which is released 6 May in Benelux, and has been produced by Gareth Jones (noted for his work with Depeche Mode and Erasure amongst others) and Shameboy (who’s worked with another Belgian act, Stromae). This track will remind you of everything you loved about that incredible first MGMT album almost a decade ago. Strong on melody, it focuses lyrically on religion and faith whilst expressing a desire to escape from its constrictions. And all to a background of glorious pumping bass synths lines and keyboard brass stabs. Remarkably, this is unsigned for the UK right now. Start reaching out - this is dazzling.
