We say

HamsandwicH have already made quite a name for themselves in their native Ireland. This track comes from their latest album Stories From The Surface, which debuted at No.1 and became the first indie album to do so there in 30 years. It was nominated for The Choice Music Prize (Ireland’s equivalent of the Mercury Prize) and is the consolidation of so much work by the band over the past few years. It was produced by Karl Odium and mastered in New York by Greg Calbi (noted for his recent work with The War On Drugs, The National and St. Vincent). Sounding tighter, more accomplished and focused than ever, their confidence comes from playing big live gigs supporting huge names like Arcade Fire, The Pixies, Mumford & Sons and Bon Jovi. Having sold out their own headline show at Dublin’s prestigious Olympia Theatre last year, the band are appearing live in London this evening (March 18) and again tomorrow night at The Islington. Musically, Apollo distills so many great influences old and new into one glorious, superbly layered three-and-a-half-minute contemporary rush. Tuck in, folks.
