We say
KYKO is the alias of 19-year old South Londoner Scott Verrill. His music is creating an organic word-of-mouth buzz and this track's been added to Radio 1’s BBC Introducing playlist this week. It comes after debut EP Animals delivered over 2m online plays to date, and the more-recent Pull Me Up stacked up over a million Spotify and YouTube combined streams since its November release. Supporters at radio include Radio X, 6 Music and Amazing Radio, and online stats are already impressive; 100,000 unique monthly Spotify listeners, 6,000 daily SoundCloud plays and 3,000 a day on YouTube. Those crucial bloggers (including Clash, When The Gramophone Rings and Indie Shuffle) are all on board, and you’ll get why when you hear this. Tightly-crafted pop, stuffed with hooks, and with a huge chorus that’ll stick with you all day, he deserves a crack at the big time with material this strong. Following recent X-Ambassadors support slots, he has his own London headline show on March 29 at The Barfly in Camden. By rights, the place should be appropriately packed-out.
