We say

Released today (February 22), this moody and atmospheric dance track from DJ/producer Thias is his debut release for Telle Records, based in Bergen, Norway. Mostly instrumental, it starts off with some dark and rather unsettling chords, it rapidly then turns into a full-on dance track with loads of retro-leaning influences that make it fairly hard to pigeonhole. But that’s actually its appeal and we ended up playing it back to back several times over, before then returning to it again to cleanse our music palate after a rush of processed sugary pop. If you think of the airy, frothy dance sound that his Scandi contemporary Kygo makes, then this would be the edgier, more troubled offspring likely to be heard in a club scenario with a much more twisted clientele, ready to explore their less-savoury cravings. Reminding us of those brilliant early tracks from pioneers like Moby, we love the fact that Thias is around making music like this in 2016. It’s against the grain of much of what we often hear right now in our troubled world but as a result, it feels more real. Soak it up and play it loud.
