We say
Spencer Petersen and Tom Carroll are the LA-based duo Sego and this is taken from the forthcoming album Once Was Lost Now Just Hanging Around. Operating out of a warehouse they call The Cube, their sound is an off-kilter blend of influences that remind us of some of the best work of Beck combined with acts like LCD Soundsystem and Black Keys. The track comes off the back of two well-received EPs: Wicket Youth via French label Kitsune and Long Way From The Fringe, from US indie Dine Alone Records. They've collaborated with artist Gustavo Torres (aka Kidmograph) and created eye-popping visuals to accompany the album and all will be revealed next week at an LA listening party on the Ace Hotel rooftop. The album is released across Europe too by Raygun Records in May, but for now the spotlight falls on the UK. Premiered recently on DIY, early plays at Radio 1 have come from Phil Taggart. This cool single has a rhythmic danceable feel to it but with an engaging lazy slacker vibe too, soaked in sunshine, with an air of carefree living. Bring on the summer.
