Nowhere
We say
Swaying Wires are a group from Finland whose sound has often been described as a Nordic take on Americana. Fronted by singer-songwriter Tina Karkinen, there’s a mesmerising beauty to her voice that carries throughout this lovely track; one that reminds us at times of Hope Sandoval from the great Mazzy Star if she were fronting an organic, folk-influenced act. The song comes from the band’s second album I Left A House Burning, which was released last month by Brighton-based indie label Battle Worldwide. The follow-up to 2013’s debut Some Blue Sky, it sees the band growing in confidence with their songwriting and musicianship and comes after a couple of years of gigging with personal triumphs and struggles along the way. Emotions are laid bare over a gently atmospheric soundscape of acoustic guitars and dreamy vocals. With glowing reviews from the likes of Q, Louder Than War and The Sound of Confusion, this lead track from the album perfectly sets the tone on a rich collection of songs that you’ll find you're wanting to fully immerse yourself in time and time again.
