The Waiting Room
We say
With the featured track today (January 21) at BBC Introducing, this title song from the debut EP by Chloe Ray showcases a UK singer-songwriter who’s building a loyal core following through hard graft and acoustic songs that connect. She’s been backwards and forwards to New York, performing nightly on her recent trip, and it’s help inspire the sound and feel of all four tracks on the EP, including one named after the city itself. Stories of heartbreak and loss, courage and personal struggles are all laid bare in her work and it’s that truthful raw emotion that’s winning her fans. Chloe’s also appeared on grime artist Sketchman’s recent album Nothing Is Enough, and their collaboration Paramount was championed by 6Music’s Tom Robinson. There’s a small independent arts club in the Surrey town of Wallington called The Brook where she’s returning for two gigs this weekend, first on Saturday (sold out) and then Sunday night (January 24). Soon she's in London at Spice of Life in Soho on March 27, as in her interest continues to grow. Warm, sincere, authentic - we'll be keeping close tabs on this girl.
