We say

Benedict Benjamin is the alias of Ben Rubinstein, former member of British indie-folk acts Peggy Sue and The Mariner’s Children. His recent single Thin Skin was a favourite with bloggers and at 6 Music, and both that track and this delightful follow-up are taken from his album Night Songs, which is set for release this coming March. You’ll be instantly drawn in on the very first play, especially if you’re a fan of vintage Neil Young songs and all things Americana. Some neat falsetto vocals are driven along by bass, drums and acoustic guitar, all conjuring up visions and influences from many of the great story-telling musicians of the past six decades, such as Roy Orbison, the Everlys et al. Lauren Laverne, Mary Anne Hobbs, Jon Hillcock and Chris Hawkins at 6 Music are all fans along with John Kennedy at Radio X. He’s recently supported US singer-songwriter Samantha Crain on her UK tour and is about to play his own final gig of the year this weekend (December 12) in London at The Harrison in King’s Cross. Prepare to be captivated by this and the rest of his impressive forthcoming work.
