In 1962, the song Moon River picked up an Oscar and two Grammy awards for its composers, the legendary Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer. Now in 2015, the heartbreaking tune has returned and is currently captivating a whole new audience. It’s all thanks to the latest multi-million pound ad campaign from Galaxy chocolate, promoting their Duet bar, and the launch of the commercial during The X Factor has already pushed this unique version by Bxnjamin & Chanele McGuninness into the current UK iTunes Top 200. On paper, you think it probably shouldn’t work - in reality, it’s an engaging collaboration that proves opposites attract. Chanele is a 22-year-old unsigned singer and songwriter from Ireland who provides the melancholic melody, whilst unsigned London-based rapper Bxnjamin provides his contrasting twist to the song over the top of it all. It’s a perfect way to launch two young talented acts to the mainstream music-buying public. Expect to see both artists turning up individually on many future hit singles to come, we reckon.
