St. Anthony: An Ode To Anthony H. Wilson

We say

The word ‘legend’ gets bandied about an awful lot these days, both in and out of the music industry. However, Tony Wilson was indeed a true legend and so much more besides. This touching tribute to the great man, who died after a long struggle with cancer in 2007, is a charity single in aid of Manchester’s Christie Cancer Hospital. All profits will go to The Christie Charitable Fund. Using an orchestral version of the New Order song Your Silent Face, the poem was written by lifelong fan Mike Garry who took it to composer Joe Duddell and discovered that the words and music just seemed to fit beautifully into place. A host of familiar faces, friends and colleagues appear in the moving video to accompany the track including Steve Coogan, Iggy Pop, John Cooper Clarke, Shaun Ryder and many more. It’s already clocked up over 600k views across Vevo and Facebook in the past week. The single has also been supported across Xfm and 6 Music, and an Andrew Weatherall remix is also available. We’re proud to play our small part in spotlighting this release - please give generously.
