Professional (ft. Hekky)
We say
In 2013 Andy Nicholson formed Sticky Blood with his friend Jamie Shield back home in Sheffield to focus on their shared love of hip-hop and street beats. This lead track from their forthcoming I.D EP has a deep and chilled, dark menacing tone but it’s already found favour with plenty of heavyweight tastemakers including Jamal Edwards at SBTV, John Kennedy at Xfm (who made it his X-Posure Hot One on Tuesday) and Charlie Sloth this week on BBC 1Xtra (who gave it his rewind seal of approval). Remarkably, it’s now nine years since original Arctic Monkeys bass player Andy left the band after their triumphant debut, but with Music Week and NME features for label launch, Card Gang Music, and an August session for Red Bull in the pipeline too, both he and Jamie have a busy few months ahead. On top of that they’re currently creating rhymes for emerging talent like George The Poet, Coco and Tom Prior. This neatly straddles several genres and it's safe to say no other nation in the world is making future music quite like this right now. [Warning - this track contains explicit language].
