We say

We’re always on the lookout for music from all genres that we feel deserves to be spotlighted, whether it’s pure pop, rock, dance or, in the case of Edinburgh six-piece Stanley Odd, hip-hop that’s proudly delivered with a Scottish accent. Coming from the burgeoning scene that also includes Young Fathers, Loki and Hector Bizerk, this track is taken from their third album A Thing Brand New. Scotland’s voice is being heard louder than ever in 2015 after last year’s independence vote and the recent power change in Westminster post-election. With smart, politicised observational rapping from Solaraye and a bittersweet chorus delivered by the wonderfully-named Veronica Electonika, you’ve a chance to experience their unique sound when they perform live in London tonight (June 19) upstairs at The Garage in Islington. This is a moody, personal tale but with a wonderful, almost trip-hop-esque groove drawing you in. Hugely impressive.
