We say
Hailing from that fine city of Newcastle, Street Party In Soho are a teenage four-piece who’ve already built a solid reputation with their confident guitar pop and neatly crafted songs. It’s three years now since the band (all of whom were then aged barely 15) made their mark with Single Of The Week status at XFM and a TV sync with E4’s Made In Chelsea for the song Take Your Time. It led them to play The Great Escape in 2013 and received plaudits from top indie record producers including Gordon Raphael and Alan Smyth. Now comes a buoyant step forward in their sound, something they describe themselves as ‘liquid candy shop afro-pop’. With a dash of influences from Vampire Weekend, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees, it’s hugely appealing right from the off and has found favour already at local stations across eastern Europe, South America, South Africa, Scandinavia plus UK regional airplay and Australian national spins at ABC Radio. Their next London gig is at The Garage in Islington on July 22. Fresh, deft and perky - just add sunshine.
