Man On Wire
We say
Taken from their critically-acclaimed album Bonxie, which made the Top 20 on its release back in April, Oxford’s ornithological obsessives Stornoway are at their grand and dramatic best on this uplifting track. Cherished by broadsheet critics and across the music press, the band have worked closely with the RSPB on this project and yesterday (May 31) ended a short run of dates playing the somewhat unconventional settings of nature reserves across southern England on the puntastic Shags & Ducks & Rock ’N’ Roll Tour. Like the birds that they’re keen followers of, this positively flies and soars musically to new wonderful heights previously unheard on their other two albums to date. They’re in session on Radio 2 for Jo Whiley on July 8 and forthcoming live performances include Portmeirion’s Festival No.6 in early September to round off a busy summer for them. Sumptuous and lush with fine retro leanings, we’re delighted people still make songs like this.
