How It Goes (Live)
We say
It’s a while since we featured anything quite so ‘in your face’ as this live cut from Birth Of Joy but if the huge queues of eager punters that we witnessed outside their Great Escape gigs over the weekend is anything to go by, the boys are red hot right now. The Netherlands three-piece plays tight, urgent psychedelic guitar rock, reminding us of a turbo-charged reboot of The Hives back in the day, as if they’d been shoved on a diet of nothing but steroids. Their buzz has grown over the past few months with those Brighton shows coming soon after gigs at SXSW, ILMC, CMJ, Culture Collide, Eurosonic/Noorderslag, Reeperbahn Festival and Waves Vienna. Earlier this year they were nominated for the prestigious Edison Pop Award for studio album Prisoner and this featured track comes from their forthcoming Live At Ubu album. They bring their madness back to the UK for the sold-out Beautiful Days weekender at Exeter’s Ascot Park on August 23 where they play the main stage. The spirit of 1960’s garage punk is alive and well and coming for your children next. Be prepared.
