Cities Between Us
We say
A neat blend of influences and styles all converge here on this cool track from unsigned act Ellenberg. With a definite retro '80s pop vibe evident from the start, there’s also a solid EDM flavour that drives it all along. A few notable hat-tips to the likes of Hurts, Editors and Imagine Dragons crop up along the way and are especially evident when the chorus builds upon the dramatic piano chords underpinning it all. That big production comes from Rich Turvey, noted for his recent work with Darlia and mixed by Tom Longworth who’s helped craft the sound for Wiley amongst others. With support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, key tastemaker blogs and Paul Lester’s Guardian playlist, things are progressing positively for the singer songwriter. His next London gig is at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on May 20. We’re looking here at a savvy, switched-on act whose music will surely connect far and wide with audiences, thanks to his combination of optimism and introspection and we can’t wait to hear more.
