Never Let You Go
We say
Currently unsigned but with major label interest hotting up nicely, 22-year-old Billy Lockett is a name that’s already on many key tastemakers’ radar. This is the second single from his excellent Old Man EP, released last autumn and dedicated to his late father, which was Billy’s third EP to enter the iTunes Top 40 album chart. During 2014, his profile rose when he was the main-support act on Birdy’s full UK and European tour, as well as playing T In The Park, Isle Of Wight Festival and The Great Escape. Now with dozens of tracks written in his cellar over the past few months, he hopes to start work on his debut album soon. Support to date has come from Xfm and Radio 1 stalwarts Fearne Cotton, Greg James, Dev, Scott Mills and Huw Stephens. Catch him live tomorrow night (March 26) at London’s Bush Hall and expect to hear a young guy who can assuredly command devoted attention from his audience through honest, impassioned lyrics and a canny knack for a great melody.
