We say
Down On Deptford Broadway is the second album from London-based six-piece Skinny Lister and from it comes this wonderfully exuberant track, complete with a boisterous Friday-night-drinking-song chorus that will no doubt stick with you long after the first play. The band performed several times to a set of rather lively crowds at SXSW in Austin last week, which led Frank Turner to declare them as his highlight of the entire festival. They’re back in the UK supporting Chuck Ragan with a gig at London’s Scala tomorrow night (March 25) and their next headline show will be at Islington Academy on May 7. In between that, they’ve lined up a bunch of in-store sessions across the Easter weekend in celebration of Record Store Day, all leading up to release date. It’s good-time music that works just as brilliantly in a small pub or a field at Glastonbury as it does on record, skilfully blending elements of punk and folk into one energetically rambunctious thrill of a ride. Hold tight. Things are about to get gloriously rowdy.
