We say

Inner Tongue is an alias for a reclusive Vienna-based songwriter who’s been on quite a journey these past few years. A musician and singer in several bands, his life turned upside down after surgery on his vocal chords. It led to silence for several months, not knowing if his voice would ever actually return. During this despairing and isolated period, he became reflective of life and ploughed those feelings, lyrically and emotionally, into this intriguingly fragile slice of introspective pop. Stick on a pair of headphones, close your eyes, turn it up and prepare to transport yourself away to some sort of ethereal other dimension on a track that genuinely reveals itself further with every play. Shaped in London by John Catlin, who’s worked with Foals and Warpaint, alongside Matt Boynton in New York, noted for crafting tracks for MGMT amongst others, this sounds rather unique. It draws instrumental inspiration from the minimal sounds of the thriving techno and deep house scenes in Austria but twists into darker, more personal worlds. Absorbing.
