Gagarin
We say
One of the acts appearing on the bill at the BBC 6 Music Festival when it takes over Tyneside next month, Public Service Broadcasting are already big favourites on the station. The duo completed a session for Marc Riley last week and this impressively funky track is already sitting on the A-list there. Taken from the forthcoming album The Race For Space, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, the track features historic archive samples of 1961 broadcasts when Russian space ace Yuri Gagarin made history and became the first human to journey into outer space. With a string and brass section to compliment them, they’ll be on tour as support to Kaiser Chiefs on their UK dates soon including a night at London’s O2 arena. Their own headline album launch shows, in the somewhat unconventional location of the National Space Centre, sold out in just 24 hours. Fresh, exciting and quirky, the vibe on this is so fantastically celebratory. Plug in and reach for the stars.
