Baggage Man
We say
German trio Sizarr formed five years ago, released debut album Psycho Boy Happy in 2012 when they’d barely finished school and are now about to bring us the follow-up next month, titled Nurture. Having supported acts like Broken Bells, Vampire Weekend, Editors and Kele from Bloc Party on tour, the band appeared regularly on the European festival circuit and were nominated for the prestigious ECHO Critic’s Choice Award. Now they’ve developed their sound and have created something musically rather unique which straddles late '70s post-punk and new wave on one side, along with contemporary electonica on the other. The band’s vocalist Deaf Sty often sounds like Morrissey here channelled through Jeff Buckley and even Morten Harket from a-Ha, all true originals of whom we very much approve. We like the quirkiness of it all and the fact that it’s almost impossible to pigeonhole the band’s sound. Even more encouraging, we're keen to see them live this summer and eager to hear more.
