Staffordshire’s Laura Welsh has played live dates with top names like Ellie Goulding and London Grammar, co-wrote and sang on Gorgon City’s 2014 summer Top 10 smash Here For You and finally releases her long-awaited debut album Soft Control a day after this classy single comes out. Produced by the great Greg Kurstin in LA, she wrote the entire album with collaborator Jonathan Lipsey, noted for his work with Amy Winehouse and Alicia Keys among others. This track, along with most of the album, is a real heart-on-your-sleeve electro pop song - evidently, it seems she’s not afraid to show her vulnerable side to us. It’s that honesty and confessional tone that strikes a powerful resonance in every one of us. Her gig at London’s Servant Jazz Quarters on January 15, a few days prior to the single and album release, is likely to be one of the new year's first memorable must-see live shows. It truly sounds like 2015 will begin with a dramatic high, we reckon.
