Robbery
We say
On October 23, the great Alvin Stardust passed away at the age of 72 from cancer. It had been 30 years since he last released a studio album but we were lucky enough to have heard his brand new collection in full before he died and were already planning to feature this great opening track from it before the very sad news broke. With production from Richard Scott and Scott Ralph (noted for their recent work as writers and producers on several Robbie Williams tracks), they managed to draw out a moody, bluesy vocal performance from Alvin that's reflective and dark whilst being hugely engaging, steeped in the influences and love for all things Americana. We're all just so sad that he's not around to see and hear how well this new music has been received by fans and critics alike. This is a great way to remember one of the true characters of the British music scene for more than five decades - music that's built to last and which deserves to endure as part of his tremendous body of work for many decades to come.
