Say You Love Me
We say
Two years ago Jessie Ware released her debut album Devotion and reached UK Top 5 with it, managing to bag a Mercury Prize nomination a few weeks later and eventually saw it reach Gold sales status. Now in 2014 she recently scored her first ever UK Top 40 hit single with Tough Love, the title track to her forthcoming second album. In the past few weeks Jessie has topped the Hypemachine chart as #1 artist and has now seen her music streamed over 46 million times via audio services around the planet. So naturally anticipation amongst fans is high and on the evidence of this remarkable track, the buzz is truly justified. Produced by BenZel, co-written by none other than Ed Sheeran and with dance remixes from Gorgon City, Alex Adair and Shura, the single premiered recently as Zane Lowe's Hottest Record In The World and led him to declare "songs like that change the nature of pop music". Raw and stripped back but soulful and heart-felt, this massive ballad just builds and builds and you'll end up drawn into the emotional pull of it all. Jessie plays the iTunes festival at London's Roundhouse next week (September 18) before returning to the capital on October 2 for a gig in St John at Hackney. Then there's a big headline gig at Brixton's O2 Academy early in 2015 on January 29. Let's be bold - this is her finest track to date and unquestionably one of the great songs of the year.
