We say

London-based doom pop band The Courtesans are an all-female quartet who formed three years ago and whose profile has been building since they released their first video, a cover of the mighty Venus In Furs by The Velvet Underground which reached the Top 3 on the NME video chart. Comprising of Sinead, Saffire, Agnes and Victoria, this debut single is the first track from the forthcoming PledgeMusic-funded album titled 1917, released via their own Belle Epoque label on September 22. Their fan base continues to grow, thanks in part to some early memorable performances from the ladies that included raunchy S&M elements to their show. They're back on stage again in the coming weeks, firstly headlining Manchester's Ruby Lounge tonight (August 15) and then at the Proud Gallery's Weekender in Camden on the Bank Holiday weekend (August 24). Support for the single has already come from Eddy Temple-Morris at Xfm. Pretty much unique right now (and it's not often you can say that about any act these days) Sinead's vocal shines through here on this strong, powerful and assertive track. We'd love to see and hear them team up with Hurts some time soon as both bands seem made for each other. Just imagine how cool that partnership would sound.
