Take Me To Church
We say
A true legend of the music industry, the remarkable Sinéad O'Connor never fails to deliver something interesting and noteworthy. Her latest album, the wonderfully titled I'm Not Bossy, I'm The Boss (released August 11), is her tenth studio collection as she celebrates her 30th anniversary in the business. As ever, the artistic creativity and unique storytelling in her songwriting shines through. There are some incredible moments, tales about religion and broken-hearted relationships, along with this featured track, telling the story of a woman salvaging herself from a difficult experience and coming out of the other side of it all, stronger and with a new-found purpose in life. Driven along with a passionate, anthemic vocal throughout and a chorus you too will want to scream at the top of your voice, this is bold, confident, stirring stuff. After the untimely death of Bobby Womack recently, Sinéad has stepped in to fill his headline slot at the WOMAD festival on July 27 and she'll be bringing her live show to London's Roundhouse a couple of weeks later on August 12. Prepare yourself to shout it from the nearest pulpit - we reckon this is her finest, most-vital single in over two decades.
