We say

Short and snappy, clocking in at just over two minutes long, Christopher Owens conjures up a lively, almost rockabilly feel here on this first track from his second solo album A New Testament (due on September 29). The past few years have rather eventful for the American songwriter, to say the least. After disbanding the critically acclaimed indie duo Girls, he became a fashion model for both H&M and Yves Saint Laurent before realising that his heart would always really be in music. Now in 2014, he continues to explore that world of surf rock that was his trademark in the past, now mixing in more of the vibe of vintage rhythm and blues pioneers as well as the likes of Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and even early Elvis Presley. We'll get a chance to see him and his seven-piece band at Islington's Assembly Hall in London on November 19 or, if you're one of the lucky few, at an invite-only acoustic gig at Dalston's Servant Jazz Quarters whilst he's in the UK on a promo trip this Wednesday night (July 16). Already Dermot O'Leary at Radio 2 has been playing the track and there's been support from BBC 6Music too. The video is also worth a look - it's a sweet coming-of-age story directed by Max Minghella, son of top film director Anthony. Appealing to a broad sweep of potential fans, from lapsed music buyers whose tastes demand authenticity, as well as the kids who adore the stripped-back sound of jake Bugg right now, you'll keep wanting to come back for more once you hear this, we promise you.
