Come With Me Now
We say
Johnny, Jesse, Dylan and Danny are KONGOS, four sons of musician John Kongos, the man whose brilliant 1971 hit He's Gonna Step On You became the basis for the 1990 Happy Mondays anthem Step On. It's taken a while for this superb track to cut through, with South Africa being the first country to see the potential, giving the band a No.1 hit shortly after they supported Linkin Park on tour there. Now the word is spreading. This excellent foot-stomping nugget was added to the B list at Absolute Radio a full eight weeks upfront whilst Stateside stations went nuts for the track too after some well-placed ad syncs, sending it flying to No.1 on the Alternative chart for five weeks recently. We've listened to their album Lunatic too and it's consistently great throughout, stuffed full of more potentially huge hits that could work globally. After supporting AWOLNATION here in the UK last year, the band is back this autumn, playing main support to OneRepublic on their European tour including their O2 London date on October 22. Rock, folk, swamp music - whatever the hell you want to call the glorious noise they make, do as they suggest in the song and just go with them 'cos the journey promises to be truly eventful.
