Couldn't I Be The One
We say
Tim Hegarty is a songwriter and producer from Northern Ireland who has written in the past for the likes of Gloria Gaynor and D:Ream. Last year he formed the band Derry with four other talented musicians, based themselves in Bristol and are now on a mission to produce unapologetically retro-sounding hits. You'll hear the laid-back guitar style of The Eagles in here all set to a beautifully simple love song, the kind of thing that could easily work as an X Factor winner's debut hit. It was co-written by Tim with Martin Sutton, a name you'll see credited on tracks in the past decade by LeAnn Rimes and The Backstreet Boys. The band has already accumulated a couple of album's worth of fine songs in a similar style and will release their debut later this autumn. You'll enjoy the sweet little Lego-styled video too telling the tale of romance in a toy shop. We love championing all sorts of tracks here, whatever the genre and whatever the style. Some may say this sounds out-of-step with anything that's around in 2014 but actually, if anything, that's its strength. After all, great mass-appeal songs that connect with lapsed music-buyers will always shine through.
