We say
Back in February, Emilie Nicolas first came to our attention when we were listening to preview tracks, ahead of Norway's By:Larm 2014 music festival in Oslo, which annually showcases new talent from the Nordic music scene. We were instantly smitten. A year ago this 26 year-old was an unknown talent who began shoving a few of her independently produced tunes up on Soundcloud. Just six months ago, she did her first ever gig. Now, she's already crafting her debut album and, after that By:Larm showcase, there's a frenzy of interest in what she'll deliver. Emilie is the first of five acts that we'll be featuring every day, running up to the start of The Great Escape festival in Brighton on May 8, where you can see her play live that evening at Komedia. She'll return to the UK later this summer to support Chvrches at their Somerset House gig in London on July 17 before appearing at Latitude the day after. This icy cool pop song is actually a cover of a track originally done by Norwegian band Dumdum Boys, but it led to huge attention at commercial radio domestically for her. Just to warn you though, it's entirely possibly you'll end up wanting to play this on a loop for the rest of the day. It's THAT good.
