Six weeks ago we heard this for the first time when it was released and yet to receive much attention. Now it’s one of the hottest tracks in the world and has been the subject of a massive bidding war, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the early '00s. New York duo The Chainsmokers are already dominating charts worldwide: Top 100 in 32 countries, No 5 in the US iTunes Chart and Top 10 in the UK. Originally released by Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label the song was accompanied by a “small” video on YouTube featuring Snoop Dogg and The Hoff. Now signed and re-released by Island Records, the video has amassed over 23 million views, averaging a million a day. Initially embraced by the dance world with support from Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Annie Nightingale, Nicky Romero and Tiesto, this super-hit is showing no sign of slowing down as it sits comfortably as the No 1 song on Shazam’s US New Release chart and No 9 in the UK. With playlist support from Capital, Kiss and Radio 1 (including Track of The Day today), alongside various celebrity spoof versions, this track is quickly shaping up to be the stand out anthem of 2014.
