Sonsick
We say
We're excited, before the year is out, to squeeze in a feature for San Fermin, the Brooklyn-based collective helmed by 24 year-old composer and Yale music graduate Ellis Ludwig-Leone, whose self-titled debut album San Fermin came out last month. The project, conceived as a dialogue between an unhappy man and an elusive woman, drifted through our transum courtesy of recent RotD featured Lucius, whose Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe provide one half of the conversation. Sonsick is a highlight from a diverse and ambitious album that ranges from post-rock and chamber-pop to contemporary classical, conceived in isolation at the Banff Centre in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and later assembled using a crew of hired musicians. A gift for the broadsheets, San Fermin have been picked up by the Telegraph, Sunday Times and Guardian, while radio comes from Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens and Jo Whiley, who all had the band in session when they were over for their UK tour in November.
