Drivin Me Crazy
We say
The temptation, when introducing an artist about whom no information has been released except where they are from, is to plump for the 'other famous exports' angle. But frankly it's beneath us and him to point out, even though it's true, that Worcestershire-based experimentalist astronomyy is as mysterious as Elgar's Enigma Variations or that his music is more exquisite than Lea & Perrins on lightly-browned Lightwood cheese. Drivin Me Crazy, the latest track posted to his Soundcloud, is a sublime and dreamy slice of future R&B, a sparse but captivating slow-build as restrained as it is refined. As with its Hype Machine-topping predecessors Don't Need U and Things I'd Do For U, Drivin Me Crazy is a blend of impeccably programmed trap beats, clipped electric guitars and smoky, soulful vocal lines that shows incredible promise for an artist yet to even release a record. Drawing comparisons with Jai Paul, James Blake and The xx, the blog-bothering songsmith and multi-instrumentalist is rightly attracting huge A&R interest, not least since rumours of an invitation to join super-producer Dr. Luke in LA. Spacey, starry-eyed and destined for big things.
