Miracle
We say
There's something about the dynamic of synth pop and duos, from Hall & Oates to Pet Shop Boys to MGMT, that just seems to work. Whatever the magic ingredient is, Nettwerk's newest signing Ghost Beach, aka Brooklynites Josh Ocean and Eric 'Doc' Mendesohn, are stirring it liberally into their 80's-inspired electro, consistently firing up the blogosphere with everything they release. Describing their sound as 'tropical grit pop', they have hit number one on Hype Machine with every new upload, not least of which is one-listen smash Miracle, recently given a radio reworking by Greg Calbi (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT), resulting in Fun.-esque poolside vibes so tropical they make a Lilt advert look positively arctic. Also check out Moon Over Japan, whose shimmering synths and chanted vocals are so eighties it's akin to mainlining the final scene of a John Hughes movie. Ghost Beach are currently on tour with Robert De Long in the US, and have a debut album to come early next year.
