No Strings
We say
18 year-old Chlöe Howl burst out of the traps earlier this year with her free-to-download Rumour EP, a three-song set whose gobby suburban soap operas drew early support from tastemakers at NME, Radio 1, the Guardian, Pitchfork and Vogue, and whose videos have racked up a cool million VEVO views between them. New single No Strings is perfect bittersweet pop - lyrically wry and joyously sweary, with a fuzzy electro bassline and a hook you could hang your cropped denim jacket on - while the exuberant party video is approaching 350k views after three weeks. Phil & Alice, Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank and Sara Cox have all supported, and the press continues to pour in. Chlöe supports Alex Clare at Somerset House tonight (July 11) then plays Wireless on Friday and a raft of further festival dates before joining John Newman on tour in November. Catch her while you can.
London gigs: Somerset House, July 11 / Wireless, July 12 / Lovebox, July 21
