Better Days
We say
Not only do Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros have friends in high places, they have the tunes to back it up. Having forged an unbreakable bond with Mumford & Sons over the course of many weeks touring together - including the six-city Railroad Revival Tour in 2011 - the 10-member troupe are the first signing to Mumfords' Gentlemen Of The Road label, releasing their eponymous second album on August 26 via Communion/Island. Lead single Better Days, a soulful, gospel-inflected slice of pop rightly hailed by Clash online as 'classic without seeming cliched', has had a great first week at radio, picking up plays from Zane Lowe at Radio 1, Janice Long at Radio 2 and John Kennedy and Maz at Xfm. Still something of a well-kept secret despite selling out Somerset House in under an hour, the band arrives in the UK for a brace of shows in July. Something tells us they won't remain a secret for long.
London gigs: Secret UK album launch, July 5 / Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, July 6 (with Mumford & Sons) / Somerset House, July 19
