Adam
We say
A fortunate few early-rising Great Escapees were treated to an impressive Alternative Escape debut from unsigned 'noir-Americana' act New Desert Blues in Brighton last Friday. Jammed into the tiny stage area of The Fishbowl, the Hampshire five-piece delivered a tight and accomplished live rendering of their brooding, expansive songs, designed and destined for much bigger rooms. Demos of Thom and Daniel have attracted widespread blog acclaim over the past year or so, as well as support from BBC Introducing and Xfm's John Kennedy. First single proper Adam, their strongest to date, is backed by a self-directed video forming act one of a two-part story, the second being - no prizes for spotting a theme emerging - Zachary. Having previously supported Peace and Slow Club, the band have a regional show with Wolf Alice upcoming, while Londoners can catch them in Hoxton on June 6.
London gig: London Fly Presents 'Ones To Watch', Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, June 6, on stage 20.15.
