We say
Finally unfettered from Bandcamp, New York garage rock outfit Parquet Courts' debut album Light Up Gold gets a UK release today, following a brace of sold-out London shows and a press love-in on a par with The Strokes circa 2001. Originally released on the band's own label Dull Tools last summer, bloggers and tastemaker journalists including Spin, Pitchfork and the Village Voice fell for its smash-and-grab concoction of smart lyrics, infectious melodies and propulsive guitars, seeing to it that a full release soon followed. Across-the-board adulation from the UK press includes a 5/5 from the Guardian ('instantly addictive and lastingly rewarding') and a 9/10 from the NME, while fans at radio include Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, Tom Robinson and Chris Hawkins. The band return to the UK in May for The Great Escape and a 100 Club headline on May 19. Video.Contact
