We say
Keaton Henson's Dear... is the heartbreak album of the year, and surely a Mercury contender. Moreover, Keaton's approach to music has made for a truly unique campaign. There have been interviews, but Keaton's answers have taken the form of illustration. No gigs, but a "live music event/exhibition", featuring a live projection of Keaton playing a song inside a wooden dolls' house to one member of the audience at a time (this installation can now be seen at Rough Trade East). There have been three remarkable videos, with first-time director Joseph Mann having made the heartbreak promo of the year for Small Hands; wonderful artwork by Keaton himself; and a "wordless graphic novel" called Gloaming which, like Keaton's album, is released next week. We can't wait to see what he does next. Video.Live: There will be a Keaton Henson event on Monday early evening in London. See www.keatonhenson.com for more details.
