We say
London-based Scoundrels are the first UK band to be signed by Sire Records founders, Seymour Stein and Richard Gottehrer, to the recently revived Blue Horizon. The label, dormant since its late '60s when it released records by the likes of Chicken Shack and Fleetwood Mac, is now home to the timeless, rootsy sound of Scoundrels. Their self-titled debut album, recorded in Chicago and Louisiana with Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Pixies), comes out at the end of this month and the charming Gulf Of Mexico is the first single. A film made during the album’s recording, Go Sell Your Soul, will be shown in six ten minute episodes on Babelgum.com in the weeks around the album release. They have recently announced a series of UK tour dates for later this year, and confirmed slots at Larmer Tree Festival and 2000 Trees Festival next month.London gig: June 30, album launch at Ginglik W12
